A Message From
Our Basileus

Welcome to the official website for the Theta Sigma Sigma chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.

Our chapter was established in 1998, to serve the needs of communities in the Mid-Hudson Valley area of upstate New York. Currently, we serve Rockland, Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties.

The Theta Sigma Sigma chapter advises collegiate chapters at the State University of New York at New Paltz (Kappa Omicron), and the Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York (Pi Gamma). The Theta Sigma Sigma chapter has active Philo Affiliate and Rhoer Club groups who serve alongside us, and in 2017, we established the very first Rhosebud Club in Area 4 of the Notable Northeast Region.

Our chapter is comprised of a diverse and distinguished group of educated, professional women who offer their time, talent and ability to elevate communities in the Mid-Hudson region.

Thank you for visiting our website, we hope you will learn more about our chapter and our commitment to fulfill the vision of our founders through our motto, "Greater Service, Greater Progress".

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. was organized on November 12, 1922, in Indianapolis, Indiana, by seven young educators: Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Vivian Irene White Marbury, Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson, Hattie Mae Annette Dulin Redford, Bessie Mae Downey Rhoades Martin, and Cubena McClure. The group became an incorporated national collegiate sorority on December 30, 1929, when a charter was granted to the Alpha chapter at Butler University. Since its inception, the dynamic women of Sigma Gamma Rho have built and sustained a well-known and well-respected reputation for leading positive change to help uplift the community through sisterhood, leadership, and service.
